
Hong Kong’s leader stated that the city’s inaugural five-year plan will guarantee policy stability while ensuring that “attention, energy and resources” are in step with broader developments.
Highlighting a robust economic recovery, the city’s chief also noted that Hong Kong’s first five-year plan would secure policy continuity and align the government’s “attention, energy and resources” with national and global trends.
“The path toward deeper reforms and addressing long-standing issues still presents numerous challenges and tasks. We will persist in our efforts,” Lee said during an exclusive interview with the South China Morning Post.
“There are, of course, interim risks. But economically, I believe we have a fairly optimistic outlook.”
He reinforced his confidence by referencing the government’s recent projection of full-year real growth between 2.5 and 3.5 percent, supported by a 5.9 percent year-on-year increase in the first quarter of 2026—the fastest quarterly expansion since 2021.
